The Volunteering Directory remains Tokyo’s only English-language volunteer directory. Created by FEW's Community Services Committee, its aim continues to be to identify the specific projects and skills each volunteer organization requires to help make the best match between volunteer & organization.

FEW wishes to thank AP Relocations for generously supporting the fifth edition of the Volunteering Directory.

The first edition of the FEW Volunteering Directory was published in September 1995. It was complied by Jeanne Vass and Toni Wren, and provided the first listing in English of community organizations in Tokyo that would welcome volunteers.

With invaluable advice and encouragement from the organizations listed, a new edition of the Directory is published every two years. The second and third editions of the Directory were made possible by the generous support of the Nippon Foundation. The fourth edition was sponsored by MCI WorldCom Japan, Ltd. with contributions by Citibank.
