Working on updating your resume and getting ready to send it around? this great tip this week from Networking Coach Wendy Terwelp and www.Knocks.com
What’s the best way to send a resume?
“Ninety percent of companies want email,” said Executive Recruiter Laurie Purcell of Key Search. “When you send it, send it in Word,” said Tim Moran, Director of Human Resources at Hallmark. Anything else is not easily transferable to a company’s applicant tracking system, Purcell said. Use hard copies for interviews. And they better look good.

FEW Editor Wanted As the present Editor will be leaving Japan early next year, we need one or two people to take responsibility for the monthly newsletter.
The Editor is responsible for layout, using either the Publisher software (PC) or Microsoft Word newsletter templates (PC and Mac). Most articles are supplied by Board members, but they require to be proofed and some editing will be required for consistency.
Ideally, we would like two people who could produce the newsletter on alternate months, with issues to be decided according to availability. The key deadline period is the third week in the month. If you are interested, please contact Susan Gittins at a FEW meeting or email:

Hello Few members and friends,
As chair of the gala committee it is with a bit of sadness but resolve that I want to announce that we’ve decided that the FEW first International Women in Business Awards Gala be postponed to May 2010. This will give us more time to find stellar judges and give you all more time to submit candidates! I think the event will be so much better as we have more time to think, create, plan and execute a fantastic event. We considered postponing until later this year, but with people’s holiday schedules and competition with other high profile events we thought it best to go for a lovely spring month in the new year. (tentative dates at this time are May 13th or 14th to be confirmed)
We are looking for FEW members to serve on the new version 2 committee. If you are interested please let me know (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and please start thinking now about all the fabulous women that we should be honoring at our first gala.
Thanks for your understanding and support.

The second annual TIAW World of Difference 100 Awards is picking up steam and there has been a great buzz around the world about potential nominees.
We are delighted with the high level of interest shown so far; there are so many champions making impressive gains on behalf of women’s economic empowerment and we are very excited to hear about so many of them. However, as it is summer here in the northern hemisphere, it’s also a time when many people are on holiday and we’ve been asked to extend the July 31st deadline by two weeks to give those who would like to make nominations more time to submit the names of their candidates.
ACCORDINGLY, WE ARE MOVING THE DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS FROM JULY 31 TO FRIDAY AUGUST 14th, 5pm Eastern Daylight Time. Nominating is easy! Just fill in the form with the coordinates of you and your nominee and tell us, in 250 words or less, why your candidate has made a difference to the economic empowerment of women! Click here for Nomination Form. The TIAW World of Difference 100 will be honoured on Monday, October 19th in Toronto, Canada. This is your opportunity to show YOUR leadership by recognizing other women as together we connect to make all the difference in the world!
