The presentation will draw on a number of quantitative post-3/11 studies conducted by Synovate. These include studies among general consumers, plus studies among physicians and patients. Topics covered, among others, will include current feelings of unease/concern, changes in personal values, changes in consumption behavior, mental health issues arising since the earthquake, information sources used by physicians and patients including social media, when should jishuku (restraint) in marketing activities cease, etc.

William Hall has some 40 year’s experience in business in Japan, having served as President of the Japan subsidiaries of two Fortune 500 companies, as well as having worked in market research and consulting. An Australian national, his presentations are known for being both educational and insightful, but at the same time tinged with humor and an occasional politically-incorrect aside. He has served on a number of government advisory panels and has been chairman of the Australian & New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ANZCCJ) and the Japan Market Expansion Competition (JMEC), and still serves both organizations. He currently runs Synovate’s operations in Japan including the Consumer Division, Healthcare, and Business Consulting which provide market research and research-based consulting across a wide range of product categories and services.
