What Does Sustainability Mean in Japan? What Does it Mean to YOU?
Speaker:Patricia Bader-Johnston, Representative Director and CEO, Silverbirch Associates
We recycle and conserve as much as we can at home, but the minute we hit the office, we turn into print-every-email and triplicate-copy-document hounds, paper-cup-smashing fiends, and computer-run-all-night-so-the boss-doesn’t-hear-you-come-late-to-work…ers. All of this unnecessary corporate waste of materials and energy adds up to wasted corporate cash. So why aren’t companies doing more to be eco-friendly employers? After all it seems to be in their financial interests to be so. And what on earth is a green workplace, anyway? And what exactly is sustainability in the broader term? And what does it mean to you as an individual, employee or employer? Patricia Bader-Johnston will put a microscope on this multi-faceted issue and what it all means in Japan. She will also address corporate governance and what it takes to be regarded as a well-behaved, responsible employer.
