FEW CAREER STRATEGIES SEMINAR 2008

The employment market in Japan can seem an impenetrable maze to the newcomer, and FEW took up the challenge of helping professional English-speaking women with its first-ever Careers Strategies Seminar in 1990. Since then, we have organized 14 seminars and helped hundreds of English-speaking women to find the direction that is right for them.
Applications are now being accepted for the FEW Career Strategies Seminar 2008, which is open to all English-speaking women.
The full-day event will provide an overview on the Japanese job scene for women, the opportunities available and how to find and make the most of them. Presentations by women, with extensive experience in various employment sectors, will focus on such areas as career education, job planning, choosing or changing career paths as well as starting and running a business. In addition to learning from keynote speakers, delegates can explore industries of specific interest in greater detail through a series of workshops. These will cover:

• Coaching
• Consulting
• Entrepreneurship
• Finance
• HR and Training
• Information Technology
• Marketing
• Public Relations
• Writing and Editing
There will be many opportunities during the day for participants to network with women who are working in Japan and those seeking jobs. Inspired by female professionals who have ‘made it’ in Japan, attendees will also have time to create personal career plans. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided, and the closing session will be followed by a wine reception.
To build on the directions given at the seminar, FEW will publish the comprehensive 2008 Career Guide, which is free to all delegates. This will provide resources and detailed information on working in Japan and how to search for the right job, with advice and recommendations from specialists. The guide will also include interviews with professional women who are successfully finding their way around the Japan job market.
