Renee Kida

Sponsorship Director

I am originally from San Francisco Bay Area, California graduating from San Francisco State University with a degree in Japanese Studies. I came to Japan in August 1998, when I joined an orthopaedic medical device company, my first professional job out of college. I was a manager handling marketing support, international academic programming and various organizational development projects. At the end of 2005, I quit my job and went back to school. I am currently an MBA student at University of Liverpool, studying to take the Japanese Proficiency Test Level 1 in December 2007, and doing a bit of freelance business consulting on the side. After spending 7 years of my life immersed in my previous company, I am immensely enjoying branching out, meeting new people and learning as much as possible.

I have been a member of FEW since 2003, helping on and off with various projects. Last year I began supporting the Marketing Committee, as well as assisting with Sponsorship activities. I have enjoyed FEW from the moment I became a member, as it was a wonderful place to meet some really interesting women and make some great friends. So I am very excited by this new responsibility, to give a little back. My husband is Japanese, and I plan to live in Japan long term, so FEW has been a wonderful place for me to make friends with other long term residents, so that I can build a stronger sense of home.
