In today’s world, where knowledge is king 24/7, who among us has not suffered at some point from information overload? Fear not—help is at hand! We may not be able to stem the tide of the information floodwaters swirling around us, but we don’t have to let them sink us! Come learn a simple yet ingenious technique to help us effectively organize our thoughts and retain information.

Minutes from meetings, speech outlines, and even shopping lists are practical areas people are making use of Mind Mapping these days. Made popular by creativity guru Tony Buzan, Mind Mapping is a tool being increasingly adopted by both individuals and businesses to efficiently capture and organize ideas. If you are struggling to cope with information overload, to grasp the heart of a problem, or you just think you could record and organize information more efficiently--don't miss this presentation! This will be an interactive session in which Josh Rhodes will provide us all with a chance to practice Mind Mapping, so please bring something to write with, and even more important--an open mind to creative expression!

Just as with most information management and communication aids in recent decades, although traditionally done on paper, there are now a large number of mind mapping software applications on the market. After Josh gives us an introduction to the basics of Mind Mapping, Andrew Shuttleworth will take us through a few of the advantages, disadvantages, and practical applications of mind mapping on a computer. He will briefly demonstrate the MindManager by using it to give his portion of the presentation, and by conducting a live brainstorming session with the attendees. Again, be prepared to let your creative juices flow!

Josh Rhodes works as a Trainer for the AMT Group, KK, which provides communication-focused management training to clients in both the private and public sector here in Tokyo. He currently focuses on topics including situational leadership, cross-cultural negotiation, presentations and creativity. He has provided corporate training to such clients as Fuji Xerox, Itochu Trading Group, the Tokyo American Club, and the Aozora Bank.

As a trainer, Josh practices the concept of Mind Mapping both personally and as an organizational and brainstorming tool in AMT Group training. In 1998, he obtained a BS in Finance from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and in 2005, he received his MBA in International Management from the Fisher Graduate School of International Business at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Josh can be contacted at josh@amt-group.com.

Andrew Shuttleworth first studied Mind Mapping some 15 years ago, but really started using the technique more actively just a few years ago, after fully recognizing its power when--at short notice--he was called upon to give a complex sales presentation. After having tried numerous varieties of note-taking software since then, Andrew now uses MindManager daily for all types of information management.

Describing himself as a “technology enthusiast,” Andrew’s personal web site is at hq.andrewshutteworth.com. He recently established his own company, 'Customers, Vendors, People' (CVP) (www.cvp.jp), with the mission of connecting customers and companies using trusted networks and word of mouth marketing. If you or your company are looking for a product or service provider to help meet business needs and would like to be included in Andrew’s portfolio of partner companies, be sure to stop by and chat with Andrew before or after the presentation, or contact him through his website.
