Vive la différence!
Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm
Cost: FEW Members ¥2,000 / Guests ¥5,000 (supper and drinks included)
Venue: Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan (FCCJ), Yurakucho Denki Building, 20th Floor (map)
Speaker: Mark Ainley, contemporary Feng Shui consultant, “One Brain” stress management facilitator/instructor, and teacher of Spiritual Tools and Healing.

Topic: In this engaging presentation, Mark will use his knowledge of Structure-Function – how your face reveals your personality – to highlight some of the ‘traditional’ behavioural characteristics of men and women. The height and shape of an eyebrow, the fullness of lips, and size of the iris can indicate potential communication gaps because they reveal a different way of processing and expressing information. Furthermore, some of the traditionally ‘male’ or ‘female’ structures have shifted over the past half-century since women entered the workforce. Understanding your own approach and how others are likely to respond supports your ability to communicate with greater clarity.
Mark Ainley is an engaging and illuminating speaker on modalities related to healing and increased awareness. He blends humour with insight, and brings seemingly complex metaphysical topics down to earth where they can be assimilated and applied. A Contemporary Feng Shui Consultant, ‘One Brain’ Stress Management Facilitator and Instructor, and teacher of Spiritual Tools and Healing, he has many years of experience as a teacher and speaker in Europe, Asia, and North America.
As a Contemporary Feng Shui Consultant, Mark demystifies the ancient science of Feng Shui by stripping it of superstitious practices and dogma that are culturally irrelevant to Westerners. With his clear and concise explanations of the universal principles of energy flow and elemental balance, he helps listeners grasp the essence of Feng Shui: that your environment reflects your current life, and that changes in that environment can rebalance life situations.
Mark is also a specialist in Structure-Function, a science which teaches how facial proportions reveal innate personality traits. With great precision, Mark can highlight instinctive behavioural trends and how these correlate to physical traits on the face. These insights help bring awareness to previously unconscious behaviours while highlighting relationship dynamics. With this awareness comes the possibility of choice.
Mark is also a graduate of spiritual training that evolved from the Berkeley Psychic Institute’s programs. He teaches practical exercises to train individuals in the spiritual connection between spirit and body. Supporting our experience in the body, these states of being help us to integrate and participate in daily life in a way that supports wholeness and neutrality.
Mark additionally works in the classical music industry and is recognized as an expert in historical piano performance practice. His pioneering CD release “Dinu Lipatti – Les Inédits” won a German Music Critic’s Award in 1994, and he has written for International Piano magazine.
Mark will be coming to Tokyo from Canada to speak to FEW. While he is here, he will be offering the following additional opportunities to explore the intriguing topic of “Structure-Function”:
